Today I am speaking to you about an issue that I feel very passionately about. This is of course the issue that is body image. For years this has been a big issue in our world, which makes people feel that they are not good enough. But we do not realise that these women are being highly photoshopped and doctored to look a certain way.

HOWEVER… The women above are changing the game for everyone and personally these are the women that I look up to  and feel inspired by. Not only are they showing everyone that we all have different body types but their photos are completely genuine. This is exactly what the model Iskra Lawrence does. She refuses for her photos to be retouched, they are always natural and truthful. I believe that more models should be like this and stand up for their bodies, as well as showing young people to embrace their bodies . This is also what model Bree Kish and model/body activist Ashley Graham does.

I realise that I am not the only one who has felt this way about themselves but all men, women and young people should be proud of who they are and what they look like. Remember, don’t care what other people think because you are the leader of your own mind.

Everyman cinema

So for about a year now I have been going to see movies at a new style cinema called ‘The Everyman”, it is honestly the best place to go. I love it’s vintage style and the customer service is amazing! I mean they bring you pizza and blankets straight to your sofa- that’s right I just said SOFA! Now, if any of you are like me and love to be cosy and comfortable this is your idea of heaven.

I went to see the new beauty and the beast (which is my favourite Disney film) and it was such a beautiful film. Can I just say Emma Watson looked stunning throughout the whole movie…The special effects and songs were brilliant. Personally the Be Our Guest scene was the best.

But anyway getting back to the topic… Going here on Friday nights is the best, it is the perfect way to forget about school, work or anything stressful going on in your personal life. But I must say it is a challenge to stay awake whilst sitting on the softest chairs ever. Although I’m not mad about this. However my mum has not quite mastered the art of staying awake, she gets too comfortable.

My favourite part about the cinema is not the movie screens (strangely enough) but the waiting/bar area. I always get so excited when there are books about Old Hollywood movie stars and retro games. Even though I never read or play them I just love the way they look on the shelves.

My usual order of movie snacks is cloudy lemonade and water, mozzarella stone-baked pizza and some chocolate buttons to share with my dad. But my brother always gets their oreo milkshake (it’s to die for) and popcorn. On these family movie nights my mum is almost guaranteed to be asleep in her seat- the struggles of being a mother I guess.

Therefore, I would highly recommend this chain of cinemas that has recently come to the UK. I have not been to another cinema since ,

Blueberry muffins!

Another baking post, I made delicious muffins they were so easy and quick to make. So here it is…

Ingredients:  to make 12 muffins

100g unsalted butter

100g caster sugar

2 eggs

300g plain flour

1tsp vanilla extract

140ml milk

1tsp baking powder

1 punnet of blueberries

Method:

  1. Line a muffin tray with muffin cases and heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar.
  3. Add the eggs and beat.
  4. Also, add the flour, baking powder and vanilla extract.
  5. Mix together until a thick batter is formed.
  6. Pour in the milk.
  7. Fold most of the blueberries into the mixture until they are evenly distributed.
  8. Spoon the mixture into the cases
  9. Put some blueberries on top of the uncooked muffins.
  10. Bake for 20 minutes.
  11. Leave to cool.
  12. Eat!

This week I ordered some mom jeans from ASOS (the best shop) and they are amazing. They are honestly the best fitting pair of jeans I have ever owned and also only £38!
I love the roses and patches they have on them because it makes them more unique.

Salted Nutella​ cookies- Tanya bakes

Today I realise 2 things: I haven't baked in ages and that I also haven't uploaded a baking post since by blog first began… So like most people I look through my cook books, which happened to be Tanya Burr's and I decided to try out salted Nutella cookies. Honestly, they taste amazing because they have NUTELLA in them!

The recipe: the best cheat day treat

200g unsalted butter

300g caster sugar

1 egg

325g self-raising flour

1tsp sea salt

200g Nutella

set the oven to 180c (degrees!) and line 2 cookie trays with baking paper

  1. cream the butter and sugar
  2. mix in the egg
  3. add the flour and salt and mix until a dough forms
  4. add the NUTELLA and try to marble it into the mixture
  5. split the dough up and roll into balls, then flatten them down on the trays
  6. bake for 12 mins
  7. cool
  8. EAT!

Also, this recipe says it makes 10 cookies but I ended up making 17 huge cookies! Of course, this made me so happy because there are nearly double! Seriously the best surprise of the day…

I hope you liked this short baking post. After the cooking and baking I've done today I feel like the 'real masterchef'.

Top 10 beauty picks

Hello,

First of all, because I have zero common sense the featured image only shows 9 beauty items. But that doesn’t matter- I will find a tenth one just for you guys. x

Hoola Bronzer– You might have heard me talk about this before but it is truly the most amazing bronzer. It is around £20 but I have had this since last year and I absolutely love it.  The powder is matte and is easily blendable and buildable. Perfect for all year round.

Naked 3 pallet– I am a huge fan of rose gold colours so this is my dream product. The shadows are blendable and very pigmented. But there is also a good range of colours so it is worth the money.

Tangle teezer– I think this is an essential because it does not hurt your hair when you brush it and can be thrown in your bag. I also love how it leaves my hair soft and smooth.

8 hour lip balm– this is from Elizabeth Arden and it very expensive, but I got it in a set so it was cheaper. However, I highly recommend this it leave my lips soft and is such an amazing product. I would also recommend eight-hour cream because it will do just about anything…

Anti-frizz olive oil glossing polisher– now I’m not exactly sure what the name of the brand is but I picked it up in boots ages ago. I have quite naturally crazy, curly and frizzy hair so this is great for when I want to style it. It also smells amazing.

Revlon highlighting blush– mine is in the shade rose gold (of course) and is great for a bit of shimmer but not too much. It is also very reasonable.

Loreal true match concealer– it’s creamy blendable and comes in a range of tones. So far I love it and use it instead of foundation or cc creams.

Thick and fast mascara– still one of my favourites, it’s more dramatic and voluminous. Giving the perfect lift.

High beam– a pink toned highlighter that is brightening and very easy to apply. It will stay on for a long time.

Bareminerals prime time– this is a really good primer that I use on a daily basis. I love primers because they keep dirt out of your pores and help the makeup stay on longer.

The secret ingredient

Hello my fellow clumsie people,

Today I am going to talk about water. You may think 'oh this is going to be boring' or 'not another health post'… But honestly, I think I have finally found something that I am passionate about and care about. That being my body and my health, once you get started fitness can be quite addictive – however, this is not a bad thing!

Anyway, water, it's such a simple and boring thing but has the power to change and strengthen your body and mind. I have always drunk a lot of water but over the past few days, I have drunk 'tonnes' of it. When I was at the gym today our trainer told us that drinking lots of water will make you lose more weight and it will also make you feel more full. My biggest struggle is not knowing when I am hungry or full but as I have exercised more and kept hydrated I am now able to tell when I have had enough. Like many people, I eat more when I am bored. This is why I would like to keep myself busy over the summer.

Here are a few facts about what water can do for you:

  1. your metabolism will speed up and help weight loss
  2. It is the main 'food' that your body needs
  3. Flushes out toxins- through sweat and urine, all the dead cells and fat leave your body
  4. Water monsters are less likely to get sick because their immune systems are stronger. Who wouldn't want to be healthier?

Remember it's all about the little changes that collectively change your life and body with very little effort.

The ‘life changing plan’

If you have read a previous blog post the little changes you will understand the context of this blog post (so please check it out). As school has now ended and I have a whole 6 weeks to myself I have come up with a plan to change my lifestyle. As I am writing this it sounds so easy but as I have realised changing habits is anything but easy.

However, my plan is to become fitter and by that I mean being more active, eating better and having a more positive outlook on everything. So far I think I am doing well even though it is early days I am beginning to see some changes. For example, some of my clothes are getting a bit big and are starting to fall down. As embarrassing as this image sounds I actually feel quite proud because of it.

At the moment I am not eating the way that I would like but I suspect that as I become more active healthier cravings will follow. Like most people I used to hate fitness because it felt like a chore, especially those tests that you have to do in P.E! But now I have a good feeling when I reach the end of a Bootcamp class or finish in the gym. There is something that makes me feel so calm and relaxed when I come home from fitness sessions now.

But what I would really to talk about is how numbers do not matter! I really cannot stress this enough because as long as you feel confident and healthy that is all that matters. I am still at a large weight but feel so much better in myself. Once I found something that I enjoyed I realised how clothes fit so much better. As well as judging when I am hungry or just bored.

And remember being active doesn’t have to be a chore you can have fun… Just this Friday I enjoyed paddle boarding and going on a banana boat with my friends.

Hidden figures

Hello,

Around a week ago now I watched a very empowering movie called hidden figures. After it had ended I was quite annoyed that I had spent half a year learning about these 2 different topics and had never heard about this. Personally I think that the movie was about very significant event. Mainly because it CHANGED THE WORLD!

Anyway… This movie is about 3 African American women who work at NASA in the 1960’s. As it is set in the time of the civil rights movement their everyday lives become difficult because of the people who are prejudice. Even thought theses women have phenomenal skills: the mathematician, the engineer and the computer genius. However because they are battling  sexism and feminism sending John Gleb into space becomes understandably difficult.

What I didn’t know what that it was actually these women who had the power and knowledge to allow America to orbit the earth before Russia.

I would highly recommend this movie because it is all TRUE and highly empowering and inspirational. But it left me wondering- in all the time I had spent learning this period how did I not know? We need to spend equal amounts of time learning about both gender’s and race’s achievements.

The little changes

Good evening, I hope you have had a lovely weekend…

Recently a lot of things have happened in my life, whether that includes (personal issues, school, relationships and realisations). So I feel like I have been quite busy and stressed out for no reason. This is why I am excited for the summer and the 6 WEEK BREAK!!

Anyway, I have not been feeling as good as I had been so like most people I did something about it. Instead of being caught up in my emotions all the time I go with my Mum along with a group of people to Bootcamp classes. I thought I would never be a fitness fan but these classes make me feel motivated, energised and overall proud of myself. Also, the class is a group effort and we work together. However, I do love the feeling of accomplishing a new skill and running faster than usual.

Moreover, the class is friendly and includes HIIT training (high-intensity interval training) which is so effective but difficult. I have not been going for long but I am beginning to notice changes in myself. For example, I was at netball the other day and noticed that  I could jumper higher and run for longer. I’m also seeing some physical changes like muscle building in my thighs and lower legs.

Although for me being active isn’t about losing a ridiculous amount of weight, it’s about running faster, becoming stronger and being a more confident person. Now I know this sounds really cringe but this is my goal.

Because I am more motivated over the last few weeks I have been more sporty: sports day, pe lessons, netball, Bootcamp and sports festivals. Even though I am aching most days I feel proud of myself for taking control of my health.

Last month my pe class was made to run an 800m track (my hell) and just to my expectations I was near to the back and the slowest. Afterwards, I received some comments which annoyed me like ‘why are you so slow?’ or ‘why are you in the top set?’. Of course, after this, I was a bit upset but then I realised at least I did it and next time I do it my time will be better. So I guess you could say that I am doing these training sessions to prove to those annoying people that this girl can do anything she sets her mind to.
